Try these asanas for Covid along with the accompanying video.
These specific asanas can enhance air inflow into the affected areas of your lungs and assist you in utilizing the unused regions of your lungs.
Practicing these asanas can aid in rebuilding your lung capacity after Covid and help prevent pulmonary fibrosis.
You can perform these asanas while standing, sitting, or lying down, so see which position works best for you.
Remember, don't stress yourself while trying to perform them!
Each asana consists of 3 deep inhalations and full exhalations, followed by 2-10 minutes of rest, whether standing, sitting, or lying down, with your eyes closed. This is considered 1 set.
Aim for 3 sets of each asana.
Inhale with your mouth and eyes open, synchronizing your movement with your breath (refer to the video).
Exhale through your mouth with your eyes gently closed, along with the movement back to your starting position (again, see the video).
You can do 3 or 4 of these asanas at a time, several times a day.
Your lungs have a capacity of 4-5 liters of air, which needs to be exchanged with fresh air every minute.
By practicing diaphragmatic breathing, you can significantly increase your air and oxygen intake in just a few breaths, speeding up the exchange of air and allowing more oxygen to reach all parts of your body.
Typically, healthy individuals breathe 300-350 ml per breath. However, if you have Covid, pneumonia, or pulmonary fibrosis, this may decrease to 100-200 ml per breath.
With diaphragmatic breathing, this can increase to 850 ml of air per breath.
Consider joining Gyan Yoga or online yoga classes for further guidance on these practices.
